RUNE STAFF CARVING

A five foot piece of maple that I shaved and dried in arid conditions. I began the project by carving the first 6 Runes of the Elder Futhark and will continue with the entire Rune row and also add a myriad of Norse designs; Thors hammer, Knot work etc. And keeping with the traditional practice of Rune carving I will stain the Runes with my blood and perform a "Rune charging Blot" ritual. When the staff is finished I will seal it for protection. I recommend this form of wood working because you get a sense of instant gratification after every Rune is carved. More importantly I find this medium spiritually empowering as well as rewarding.
